Music Education Minor

Perhaps you studied music in high school and want to continue to exercise your talents or want to balance your demanding major with a creative outlet. Our coursework allows you to hone your skills as it focuses on the important fundamentals of music.
This intensive minor in Music Education nurtures students' passions for music and teaching. Coursework provides foundational training in the theoretical and practical skills needed for classroom success, and students also enjoy practicum and internship opportunities to explore the professional world of music education. At the same time, students hone their performance skills in individual lessons and ensembles so that they can become exceptional musicians who can bring their deep expertise into the teaching setting. This minor must be paired with the B.A. in Music. Students may choose to pursue the M.A.T. upon completion of the Music major and the Music Education minor. A minor in Music Education requires 21-23 hours consisting of the following:
