John Shoaf is an assistant professor in the Ïã½¶´«Ã½ Physician Assistant Program.
Shoaf began his career in law enforcement before transitioning into the medical field. After becoming a physician assistant, he served in the United States Air Force from 2010 to 2015, working within both the Air Force Materiel Command Medical Operations and the Air Force Special Operations Command.
He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and has been licensed by the North Carolina Medical Board as a physician assistant since 2004. Shoaf’s clinical background includes internal medicine, pediatrics, ENT and general surgery. He has conducted and published research on food insecurity.
In addition, he is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Physician Assistant Education Association.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, cycling and other outdoor activities.
