  • B.S., Sports Management, Ohio Valley University

Carlos Rubio was named head men’s soccer coach at Ď㽶´«Ă˝ in February 2023 after serving as the program’s goalkeepers coach since 2018. He previously worked as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams and is the eighth head coach in the 39-year history of LR men’s soccer.

In his first season as head coach, Rubio led the Bears to their sixth NCAA Tournament appearance, posting a 7-5-6 overall record and a 6-2-3 mark in South Atlantic Conference play. Four players earned All-SAC honors, and Ivan Rubio was named SAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

During the 2024 season, the Bears posted an 8-8-1 overall record and went 5-5-1 in SAC competition. The team advanced to the SAC Tournament Championship after upsetting two higher-seeded teams. Multiple players earned All-SAC recognition, and Harri Rowe was named to the All-Region team.

As an assistant, Rubio helped guide the men’s team to two of the program’s five NCAA Tournament appearances, including a SAC Championship title in 2022—just the fourth in program history and the first since 2006. In 2019, he played a key role in the Bears’ upset victories over No. 9 Barry, the defending national champion, and No. 2 Young Harris.

Rubio was also instrumental in the success of the LR women’s soccer program. With his assistance, the team reached a Final Four in 2021, made two NCAA Tournament appearances, and won the SAC Championship during the shortened 2020–21 season. He coached goalkeeper Grayson Cameron to a Second Team All-Conference season and a 0.77 goals-against average—fifth best in program history. In 2019, he coached goalkeeper Charlotte Warner to Honorable Mention All-Conference honors and the sixth-best GAA in program history.
